Moniteau County Marketing its Gigabit Capacity

December 15, 2016 – Moniteau County Regional Economic Development Council (MRED) Chairman Mike Kelley spoke this week to Mid-MO RPC’s Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) about MRED’s effort to market the gigabit Internet service available in Moniteau County through Co-Mo Electric Cooperative. With the help of Mid-MO RPC, MRED received a $30,000 USDA grant to complete a feasibility study and create a marketing plan. The feasibility study identified metal fabricators as a target industry that would have an interest in the gigabit technology. Marketing materials were then developed and are being distributed to 250 metal fabricating companies in surrounding states.

Early next year, MRED plans to expand the marketing effort to another business sector and do a similar mailing to an additional 250 companies. A YouTube Channel and three marketing videos are being finalized and will soon launch. The YouTube videos will also be made available through the redesigned MRED website as well.

EDAC will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. If you have an interest in economic development issues and would like to start attending EDAC meetings, please contact David Bock at davidbock@midmorpc.org for more information.
