Community Development Block Grant Program

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program offers grants to small Missouri communities to improve local infrastructure and facilities, address critical health and safety concerns, and develop a greater capacity for growth. CDBG funding originates at the federal level with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), but is administered at the state level by the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED). The state CDBG funds are only available to non-entitlement areas (incorporated municipalities under 50,000 and counties under 200,000 in population).CDBG funding is divided into the following funding categories: water and wastewater, demolition, community facilities, general infrastructure and business development. There is also a special funding category for emergencies.
