Ross Kasmann, engineer with Engineering Surveys and Services reviews prefeasibility study with meeting attendees.
Callaway County officials and project developers coordinated an open house discussion to review the prefeasibility study for wastewater treatment within the Cedar Creek Watershed with interested individuals on May 31st at the Millersburg Fire Station. Approximately 30 individuals representing subdivisions, private business, and individual interest and/or development interests attended the discussion. The study initiated by Mid-MO RPC on behalf of the Callaway County Commission was awarded a 604(b) grant to investigate wastewater treatment options for the Millersburg area within the Cedar Creek Watershed. The first section of the report looks at the existing permitted facilities. They are all in various states of permit nonācompliance or will need to be addressed in the near future. The second section of the report examines treatment alternatives for regionalized wastewater treatment. New and innovative technologies are listed with pros and cons for each. Options to connect facilities in the study area with costs are also presented. Detailed maps and opinions of probable cost are included. The third and final section of the report looks at various ways to manage a regional system of wastewater treatment with pros and cons for each. Different funding mechanisms are explained including grants, loans, and private financing. For additional information regarding this report and planning effort, contact Ed Siegmund at Mid-Mo RPC.
