DNR Accepting Historic Preservation Fund Applications for 2021

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources announced the opening of the Historic Preservation Fund (HFP) competitive grant round for the 2021 fiscal year. Local Governments, county governmental entities, municipalities, and qualified nonprofit organizations with a historic preservation mission are eligible to apply for an HPF grant.

According to DNR guidance, “HPF grants fund projects that relate directly to the identification, evaluation, or protection of historic properties, for example, architectural or archaeological resources listed or eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.” Projects must be shown to contribute to at least one of the goals outlined in the Missouri Statewide Preservation Plan. (https://dnr.mo.gov/shpo/docs/shpo_statewide_presentation_plan_final_final_rfs.pdf). (Make the title of the Plan the hyperlink title.) Categories eligible for funding include National Register, Survey, Planning and Outreach, and Pre-Construction projects. Each category type has a slightly different application and instructions.
